Ice packs. Place ice packs over the temple area and side of the face for ten minutes, three or four times a day.
Change your diet. Place yourself on a soft food diet. Avoid foods like raw veggies, chips, steak, etc. When not eating, make sure you keep your jaw relaxed and slightly apart. The rule to remember is “lips together, teeth apart”.
Get some sleep. Your sleep position is vitally important. Sleep on your back, not your stomach, perhaps with a pillow under your knees to discourage tossing and turning. Stay away from firm, full pillows. Lastly, do not sit or sleep under ceiling fans or vents as this will aggravate sensitive muscles and joints.
Stand up straight. Good posture is key as well. Keep your head up, chin out, shoulders squared and back straight. Support your lower back when sitting and try to stand and move around frequently in order to
adjust and stretch your muscles.
